Sprouting Seeds
Dampen a paper towel - natural is best - fold in seeds - put in sandwich bag. check daily for when they sprout.
Solo Cup Life
Plant your seeds 1/2 inch deep in solo cup. Moisten soil. I do not pack anything down. Be gentle to the seed it will treat you right. Cover with plastic bag. Once sprouted put under 18-6 light.
Be easy on the watering and the plant until 4-5 set of leaves. I then give it a good watering with Myco Madness. I like clear solo cups so I can see the roots grow. I have at time kept them in the cup longer and if needed will feed with 1/2 strength of Humboldt Grow Natural. I have found this stronger than the label - so keep in weak - it’s in a solo cup.
Transplanting to it’s final pot.
I use fabric pots - in this example 5 gallon. Mixin your soil - Happy Frog is a good all purpose soil. I mix in couple cups of Lobster Compost and 3-4 tablespoons of Dr. Earth All Purpose. I also like to add a couple TBS of dolomite lime for Cal/Mag and PH stability. For aeration I use rice hulls vs perlite. I like to put the soil in the fabric pot and have it sit for a month or two (so I set this up way beforehand) Our goal here is to get a healthy plant in VEG with a solid healthy ROOT System. As it grows top or train as needed.
Move to Flower
The day I move it I scratch into the surface 3 TBS of Dr Earth Home Grown. you can use this through out rest of grow. It has a decent amount of calcium in it. As it goes through flower I will add 1-2 TBS of the Dr Earth Home Grown or the Flower Girl 3-9-4 if I need more Phosphorus.
About Organic Growing
You are feeding the soil. You need to read your plants if they have an issue earlier. Organic fertilizer I have found takes 3-7 days (liquid) to start acting on the plant. With dry like Dr Earth you scratch in the surface it takes about two -four weeks to start working well.
Some folks transplant more. I find it stressful for the plants so I do it once. Be careful not to overwater after transplanting. You want roots to reach nd grow. Always PH your water 6.3 - 6.7 is what I shoot for.
What I like to use…
Myco Madness - My go to for building a root system
Liquid Fertilizers - Humboldt - Neptune - Advanced Nutrient Organic
Dry Fertilizer - Cannot beat Dr. Earth products - no bug eggs either.
Dolomite Lime - takes all the cal/mag worries away.
Rice Hulls - for soil aeration - like it over perlite. All Natur’al
Sugars - Humboldt Honey is wonderful - AN has one but read about Heavy Metals
Revitalizing old soil - Coast of Maine is great to use. I love couple shovels of the Lobster Compost , Stonington Blend dry is super for this and in VEG. Worm castings and Down To Earth Rose&Flower.
